The Christian Writing Fair
The Christian Writing Fair is a Johannesburg-based event for Christians who desire to use writing as an expression of their faith and ministry.
Saturday’s full-day programme will consist of talks, workshops and panel discussions, providing encouragement and training for both seasoned and aspiring writers. There will be time in the programme for participants to network with fellow writers, editors and publishing industry participants.
Our aim is for the Christian Writing Fair to become a biennial event and for it to be a catalyst in the formation of writer’s groups and further training courses.
Sing to the Lord; praise his name.
Each day proclaim the good news that he saves.
Publish his glorious deeds among the nations.
Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.
The Christian Writing Fair is a collaboration between two ministries: MAI and Rosebank Union’s Write On! Group.
MAI was started in 1985 to train Christian publishers and writers and to advance the gospel through locally-created literature. In many countries less than 5 percent of Christian books available are penned by local authors. Since their founding, MAI has led 300 training programs in 79 countries on 5 continents with 8600 people equipped. Budding writers have been developed, publishing houses grown, periodicals launched and books produced. The ministry celebrates as God strengthens the Church and draws readers to Christ with the written word.
Every three years, MAI convenes LittWorld, the only international conference of its kind, providing intensive training on strategic, publishing-related topics. The next LittWorld takes place in Singapore from 28 October to 2 November, 2018. More than 40 international publishing professionals will lead plenary sessions, small group workshops, devotionals and one-on-one consultations giving fresh vision and skills for heightened effectiveness. The schedule also features ample time for networking and relationship-building. The last conference in 2015 gathered 278 Christian publishing staff and writers from 50 countries.
